Hair transplant procedure before and after result images with 2852 grafts

Procedure detail

FUE performed on a 36 year old Caucasian male with:

- A diffuse hair loss pattern
- Donor density of 88 FU/cm2 in the temporal region and 96 FU/cm2 in the parietal region
- Hair diameter of ~54-58 µm

Treatment plan:

A Follicular Unit Extraction with 2700-3200 FU to reconstruct the hairline, the central core and the beginning of the bridge.
A medical therapy with finasteride 1mg to prevent permanent postoperative shock loss and further hair loss in the crown area.

Performed procedure (December 3rd, 2015):

A Follicular Unit Extraction procedure with 2852 FU:

- 500 single hair FU
- 1376 double hair FU
- 976 triple hair FU

Extraction performed with a 0.80mm FUE punch with CIT Manual Punch Handle. No microscopic preparation of the follicular unit grafts (FUE); Parallel incisions (single, double and triple units) were made in custom-sized blades technique (~Cutting Edge blades of 0.75mm – 0.85mm)

In this patient’s case, there has been a considerable improvement in hair thickness and -growth in the crown area due to the medical therapy with finasteride 1mg. The crown area has not been addressed during the hair transplant procedure, the whole improvement in the crown area (all new hairs) is a result of the effect of finasteride.

Bald class

Bald class 3V

Norwood stage 3 Vertex

In terms of the receding hairline, stage 3 vertex balding is a less drastic version of stage 3.
However, people experiencing stage 3 vertex balding will also begin losing hair on the crown of their head. This often starts as one small bald spot.
